Choose the smallest available package that covers your planned use—unless you can identify a realistic near-term use for the extra balance and accept the higher checkout cost. A larger number is not automatically the better choice.

Make the decision with two numbers

Before opening the Fortnite top-up page, write down:

• the amount you intend to use now;
• the amount you realistically expect to use soon afterward.

Then compare available packages using this simple calculation:

Package amount − planned use = expected remainder

The remainder is useful only if you have a genuine plan for it. Otherwise, it represents balance purchased earlier than necessary.

Example 1: One defined purchase

• Buying a hypothetical 4,500 package covers only the first use.
• A hypothetical 9,000 package covers both and leaves 1,000.

Here, the larger option may fit the plan better. You should still compare its current checkout cost with the cost of buying smaller amounts separately. Do not assume that either route is cheaper without checking the live totals.

Example 3: An uncertain future plan

Suppose you need 4,000 now but might use another 4,000 later. Treat the second amount as zero until you are comfortable committing money to it. “Maybe” is not the same as planned use.

This conservative approach reduces the chance of choosing a large package solely because it appears more convenient.
